My Blogging Buddy's Blog Party!

Hello, my fellow blogging fiends. You know how I just had a blog parade? Well, I don't care! My bubbly blogging buddy, Bekah, is having a blog parade, and she deserves a bunch of link ups! Besides, she's got awesome giveaways in it for you, so you should do it anyway. ;)

I didn't answer all of the questions that she had listed, because some of them had similar answers to the questions that I just answered at the beginning of March with my blog party. Hope you'll join in though, so I can read all of your answers!

1. If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would you say?

Um....probably intense. Not necessarily in a derogatory sense all the time though.

2. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
I would love to be able to read people's minds. Oh, that would be SO convenient!

3. What is (or are) your food obsession(s)?
Currently, chicken. Chicken sounds amazing all the time!

4. What is the best April Fools prank you pulled on someone or that someone pulled on you?
I've only ever fallen for one. My dear friend, Emily, told everyone that she had gotten engaged. Turns out it was to an oversized teddy bear. *facepalm*

5. If you were an inanimate object, what would you be?
A violin. No profound similarities there--I just like it.

6. Let's say you could change the world in one way. How would you change it?
I would want to change the world's perspective of Christians, and Christians' perspective of the world.

7. You have a million dollars (*gasp* ;). How do you spend it?
I'd buy an electric violin, a beautiful and amazing Italian violin, hard wood flooring for my bedroom, I'd give the laundry room a makeover, I'd drink Starbucks almost every day, and most importantly...I'd give my momma the kitchen she's always dreamed of. Would that take it all? haha. :P

8. What is one thing that always takes your breath away? (That could mean in a good way OR a bad way)
Solo violinists playing beautifully. Am I starting to sound monotonous?

9. What is one thing that you absolutely positively cannot stand?
When dishes have gone through the dishwasher and they're still dirty. AHHHH!!!

10. Say you commited a crime. The judge gives you a choice between sentences: twenty years of complete solitude in the mountains or never having another moment alone for the rest of your life. Your choice?
If I could pick the people (meaning, my family) to be with me for the rest of my life, I would choose that. If not, I would have to say 20 years of solitude. I'd hate to be surrounded by strangers all of my life. Ugh.

11. What is one benefit that blogging has given you?
It's helped me develop my skills in web design, writing, and photography. Plus, I've met a bunch of amazing people!

My Crumbling Carousel

It's a kind of irony that takes us from passionate to obsessive--an irony that starts with wanting to do something for a good cause, and once the high hits, wanting to do it for our own personal pain and pleasure. I've experienced this too many times in my life to simply ignore it. I debated even writing this post, because it sounds so pathetic coming from someone who devoted her life to a much greater cause 12 years ago--the cause of Christ. But, as is the reason for this entire revelation, pride must be swallowed so the bloody plank of error can be displayed--for the cause of Christ.

We, ourselves, learn from our own personal wrongdoings. So, God had to of meant for us to share these shortcomings with others of the same sort as us. That is what I am attempting to do.

So, enough beating around the bush. I have suffered from an extreme spiritual dehydration over the past few months. I would wake up every morning, praying that God would make me more faithful, only to start my day and completely forget to give Him the time that was His in my day--forgetting that all of my time was His. I would work and work and work on things that didn't truly matter--web design, violin, graphic design, etc....they really don't matter if you lose perspective.

To be perfectly honest--I had gotten myself in a deep rut, and I may have been spinning my wheels at 100 miles an hour, but I was getting nowhere. Slipping in the mud that I had driven myself into, not realizing the consequences it would have on my time. Accepting jobs without a second thought because "I could really use the money" dug me in further. Money isn't a bad thing--don't get me wrong--but it's a sickening excuse for time spent with the ones I love. It was becoming so that every time I took an opportunity to spend a moment with them, I wasn't really there. I was physically, but I was so many other places mentally that even that was a job; and they felt it.

These same few months have been some of the most stressful and deadened days of my life. I simply couldn't get involved in deep conversations (or even shallow sometimes), because I was so dreadfully preoccupied with everything. I did honestly yearn for a deeper connection to my loved ones surrounding me, but I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, and thus the solution didn't present itself.

I am astounded once again at how blind I can become when I rely on myself for happiness, and on Christ for all of the things that I should be doing. God won't make me faithful. Not to say He couldn't, but that would defy the whole meaning of faith. No, I have to commit myself to Him fully. Every little thing I do...every gift I have....every precious moment I witness....is from my beautiful King. So, why rely on my usage of His blessings, when I can simply rely on Him? See, to me...my life in Christ is symbiotic...I give Him my love, faith, and trust, and He gives me His love, faithfulness, and constance. But to Christ, our relationship is undefinable--unfathomable. Because He doesn't withhold His love from us....He simply waits patiently for us to stop looking in the mirror and to realize that He's had His hand held out to us all along.

The moment I opened the Word to start my day (for the first time in a long time), it was as if a big fluffy blanket had been wrapped around me, and I suddenly realized how cold I had been for so long. It was a mixture of panic, and overwhelming security--like looking down and realizing you're at the top of a mountain, only to immediately feel a strong arm pull you to safety.

Faith is hard for us, but not for the Divinity of Faithfulness.

Since I opened my eyes, my once distractions are renewed. My joy in having them is back--and it's because I have a purpose for them. They're no longer just my own personal backyard carousel of masked beasts....they've transformed back into what God originally intended them to be. Gifts that give back, for the imperfect bedecking of His beauty.

Simplifying for Sanity - It Works!

I cannot express to you with adequate exuberance how wonderful I feel after simplifying my bedroom. It goes beyond tidying, cleaning, or even organizing (in my opinion), because it took the space where I spend most of my time, and stripped it down to a manageable level! I have everything I need, and not enough extra to stress me out any time in the near future. Praise the Lord for my momma encouraging me to participate in this week's Simplifying for Sanity! It was several hours of work, but I feel simply magnificent since finishing it.

{Before}

Can you see why it needed work so badly?

No need for a double take...yes, that IS my Christmas tree. *gasp*

Being sick does take its toll on my surroundings as well--as you can see from the pile of Kleenex on my nightstand and the flax bag lying on the floor.

{After}

This is the spot I'm most excited about...

Clean desk = Happiness!

I made my bed! I know...big whoop....no seriously!

You all are going to think I've lost my marbles--frankly, I'm beginning to think so--but, two days ago, I said a long and heartbreaking goodbye to my dearest Mr. Bean; or rather, the poster of him that had hung on my wall for several months. I only had one consolation good enough to relieve my suffering.

Take a look at this picture....

Ooh....what is that?

It's my brand new decal from Leen the Graphics Queen!

I am vividly aware of how cheesy those last few captions sounded, but I am truly extremely excited about this new addition to my wall-dwelling family. It just brings a new effect of contrast to that wall--it makes the whole room look crisper! Ah! I love it!

Leen, you are amazing!

Guys, you have to go check out her store. You will fall in love. My tree is probably my new favorite piece in the room.

So now, when I walk into my room, I am greeted by a tidy and inviting piece of me...

...and I can play my violin without chaos surrounding me!

Ah....it feels so. nice.

Nutella is Delicious

Well...ok, this post isn't really about Nutella.

I really just wanted to show you these cute pics I got of Harrison. :)

I have been SO under-inspired when it comes to blogging lately! I happened upon a blog which had been pulled up on my momma's computer the other day. As I looked through, I saw multiple pages of gorgeous pictures and beautiful words....I was instantly inspired to pick up my camera again (which has been shamefully neglected), and also to take a little bit of time to revive my blog! You deserve to see the best of me...so I'm stashing away the PJs and putting on my proverbial makeup. ;)

Ah....now I feel better.

That's all for now. Ciao, my lovelies.

Remnants of St. Patty's Day

Ok guys...I've been sick, and I'm tired, and I really shouldn't be posting....but I HAVE TO!

...Because I became a member of this awesome ecard website called JibJab today, and I have the FUNNIEST video to share.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

HAHAHA! Ok, I'm sorry if that wasn't as funny to you as it was to me, but something about four of me dancing an Irish jig with Jackie Chan just had me rollin'.

I promise I'll start posting again now that I'm not sick anymore. :) Love you guys!

With A Heavy Heart....

...I announce that my two FAVORITE contestants on American Idol were eliminated tonight. I'm too exhausted from sadness to be explosive anymore.....just dreadfully, dreadfully saddened. :(

These were the people who SHOULD have made it to the top.

Alex Lambert....

Lilly Scott....

I think these are the WORST results in all of AI history. Know why? Because--granted--we've had our disappointments; like when Chris Daughtry got voted off in the top 5, or when Elliot Yamin didn't make it to the top 2...but the two best singers (IMO) were voted off before they were really given a chance to take off. That just saddens me.

Alex & Lilly did NOT deserve to go home.
I'm sorry if you don't agree. I just had to vent.
Please note: I will continue to watch the show, despite the circumstances.

A Concert and Some Good News!

Do you guys remember me telling you that I had an orchestra concert this last Saturday? Well, I did....and it went great! I think I was a little disappointed after the concert--just because I was sick of 11th chair, but guess what....I mean...GUESS WHAT!!!!!!

I was automatically pushed up to 2nd violins in the next level of orchestra!!!!! Ok, that doesn't sound great...and frankly, I'm not shooting for 2nd violins, BUT...that just makes my chances of getting into 1st violins that much better! My audition will be on April 30th (I think). I'm just SO THRILLED to know that even if I don't get 1st violins, I'm still in the Youth Symphony!!!!! Yup, I'm excited.

It turned out to be great music this year! The cello solo in the Lalo is absolutely GORGEOUS! It's amazing to me that there are so many insanely talented people. That soloist is a sophomore in high school! I know....crazy, right?

So, now that I've suffocated you all with my overwhelming excitement, I think I'll just shut my pie hole and show you the videos.

OH.....and sorry about the kid in the middle of the last one. My dad always finds people we know and decides to zoom in on them. Smart...for personal use. Ha! :D

I know a lot of you don't have time to listen to the whole concert, so if you just want to watch one, the last video is my favorite.

32nd Street Blog Parade!

Click here to grab the 32nd Street Blog Parade banner or to get more information about the blog party.

Hey everyone! I'm SO excited to visit all of you today and throughout the week! Don't forget to link up with your posts, so that I can see you! :)

1. What's your favorite time of the day, and why?

Early morning. There's nothing better than waking up at the break of dawn and watching the colorful sunlight pour in your window. KIDDING!!!! That would probably be my least favorite time of the day. My favorite is from around 7pm to whenever I go to bed. That's the time when I get to sit down and either watch a movie or (if it's Tuesday or Wednesday) American Idol with the family, and just completely chill afterwards with the sibs. SO. AWESOME.

2. If health wasn't an issue, what food could you live off of?

Well, since I said food (and not Starbucks--which would be my obvious answer otherwise), I have to say....Peanut M&M's!

They're pure, beautiful, delicious, amazingness--problem is, I don't eat (or endorse the use of) artificial colors. So, what's there to do? Dream on.

3. If you could have one wish granted (besides wishing for more wishes), what would it be?

I was going to say I'd wish for mad violining skillz, but then I realized that would be really unsatisfying. Who wants success from an artificial talent? No, I'd rather get artificial success from REAL talent. Makes sense, right? So, I would wish to solo for a movie score--like Hilary Hahn in "The Village" or Joshua Bell in "Defiance". That would be like....jaw dropping awesomeness.

4. What's one thing that you get teased about a lot?

My spontaneous intensity. I tend to kind of make up things that I'm really adamant about on the spot. For instance--someone says "I don't think I could live without electricity." So, naturally, I respond "Are you kidding!? I've ALWAYS wanted to live without electricity! Wouldn't it just be romantic?" Uhhhhh....where'd that come from? I would DIE without electricity!!!!!!

5. If you could choose one movie, book, or TV show to spend your life in, which would you pick? What type of character would you be?

It's really really....really...ridiculously hard, because I love SO many. I've finally decided though, it would be Star Trek Voyager, but with Jackie Chan. I would probably be an engineer--actually, B'Elanna (the half Klingon, half human engineer) reminds me of myself quite often. In my spare time, I would spend time in the holodeck--set in a Chinese garden, and Jackie Chan would teach me Kung Fu. Would that not be bliss?

6. If you could have one talent that you don't already have, what would it be?

I would like to be able to make people laugh really easily. See, I think a LOT of stuff is funny. Problem is, the humor gets lost in translation--ya know what I'm saying?

7.If money were no object, where would you go on vacation?

I don't really know. Probably somewhere on the coast of Greece. It's SO gorgeous! But still...I'd probably get bored....so, I guess I'll say Los Angeles, Californ-i-a. :)))

Don't we look happy?

8. If you were an awesome singer, which genre would you sing?

Probably like Norah Jones type stuff. That would be pretty next level.

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, what would it be?

Amazon.com. Does that count? Well, it should.

10. If you could live in any point in time, when would it be?

The Victorian era...but only if I was rich. That may be lame, but I would totally want to live in a mansion and have butlers and maids and throw balls and stuff. If I wasn't rich, then it would have to be now.

11. If every outfit in your wardrobe had to be one color, what would it be?

PURPLE!

I think most people are going to say black...but I think I'd get sick of black sooner then I'd get sick of purple.

12. If you were one of the seven dwarves, which one would you be?

(Doc, Grumpy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful, Happy, or Dopey)
Probably a cross between Bashful and Grumpy. So, Annoying.

13. What's the last album you listened to?

"Bulletproof Monk" soundtrack, by Eric Serra

14. What's something we'd be surprised to know about you?

I once considered selling my violin to pay for an Xbox 360. Can you believe that?!?! Me neither...I've had some pretty dimwitted moments in my life.
